|By far the darkest of the ten pieces, Tagistopheles features a thrumming pervasive percussive element that pans and fades disconcertingly throughout the piece. In the distance plaintive notes sound out, barely reaching the listener as more than an echo. The bass line is abrupt and powerful, showing no mercy or compassion and driving the song forcefully forward. The main passage reeks of power and force wielded without restraint. The overall mood is one of careful and discreet espionage followed by decisive and potent action.
